Cool piece of Hornstone4&3/8" by 2&5/8" by 9/16". Sometime in the last twenty years I got this with an Indiana collection, boxed it away as a "keeper". I look at the patina and see a Woodland artifact, the hornstone isn't patinated the way an Early archaic piece would be, and the chipping is percussion work, but returning to 'patina' once more it looks like two different timeperiods the piece was used. Some edge flakes have that "yellowing" of older flint (edges); some are Hopewell type work where the chipping seems (while not new) newer--if that makes sense. Every artifact, you study it for what it is, you try to make sense of what you're seeing. Pardon the long-winded explanation, but I (at least) found the blade worth collecting. Shipping is $6.00, checks, cash or money orders are the only ways I take payment--never paypal--Roy A.
