3&13/16", 1&1/8" wide, and right at 1/2" thick--substantial blade made from fossil chert, a heat treated Harrodsburg Chert. At the base of the hafted knife you can see what's the 'natural color' of the fossil chert--the tip area shows color changes as the minerals in the chert are exposed to heat--sometimes the flint will turn a red or a purple color, depending on the minerals the chert contains, and the hotness of the fire. Occasionally you'll see lighter heat coloration when campfire stones ringed a firepit--almost an 'accidental' heat treating, but either way, heat made a hard-to-knapp- chert more easily chipped. The piece is from along the Ohio River on the Kentucky side of the stream, Breckinridge County--Meade County, KY, guaranteed rea. Shipping is $6.00 with checks, cash, or M.O.s welcomed. Please note that my store doesn't use paypal. Thanks--Roy A.
