Shipping comes with the purchase on this 5&3/16" by 2&13/16", 1&1/16" thick Spade out of Macon County, Illinois. The flint looks to be a variation of Illinois Mill Creek Chert--FAR more colorful than the usual tan of Mill Creek, but the bit has the fine work polish you associate with one of these Spades--some get an absolute 'glassy polish' after so many years of digging in sandy river soils--Mississippian Culture, I'm assuming, as these are not what you find on Woodland sites unless they have a later component. The Mississippians were farmers, they stayed on a site for many years, farmed their Maize, beans and squash--lots of chopping gave the spades they used a strongly polished bit. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic. I welcome checks or M.O.s, but please note this store does not use paypal--Roy A.
