One decent piece of Burlington Chert, this Callaway County, Missouri, Dovetail measures right on 4"--even (by 1&5/16") with the tip having ancient usage (an Early Archaic Period work-made ding). The form, the pressure chipped beveled blade edges, every detail is patinated, lifetime guaranteed authentic. The finder wrote some provenance on one face, but no amount of staring at it makes it legible. The basal edge is ground--not super heavy, but it is ground. Both barbs have tiny nicks at the ends--I figure if you want to buy the piece you want to know any and all features and flaws, so I try to state them upfront...these aren't used cars, they're neat tools.
