Shipping included on this unusual point type--notches---or 'barbs' above the actual base of the point. There are only a few known point types that used a system like that: Ohio Double Notched, Leightons and Merkles. This snap base Knox County, Kentucky, find has more of the "Double Notch form" than the Leightons, similar (in a way) to the Turkey Tails, but again, not quite those either--study the examples in Overstreet (or "Projectile Points dot Com), you'll get a better idea of the individual point-type characteristics than I can write in a few sentences...picture is worth a thousand words and all that. Now, is this 1&7/8" by 7/8" thin point a tan Jasper, or is it a "local chert"--it was the only piece of the type in a small collection, only two packed tight frames, so answering that question with anything but a "Could be either" is my best answer--good material, it has a high silicate level, so it knapped with some fine pressure-made edges. Good flints make for good blade edges, tiny 'sharpening serrations'--cherts, not so much. The patina is there, every detail is guaranteed authentic. I welcome checks or M.O.s, cash is fine, too, but I do not use paypal--Roy A.
