This is one of my favorite books to read every few years. This is simply a great book if you want to know about the lifeways and practice of the Texas Indian Tribes. It's fascinating to actually read about the facts surrounding everyday life of the Texas Tribes.
Newcomb was a professor of Anthropology at the University of Texas and this book is based on the ethnology of the Texas Tribes.. It covers everyday life, religions, trade and family practices of several of the major Texas Tribes.
Paleo Hunters ,Coahuiltecan Travelers, Karankawa, Lipan Apache, Tonkawa, Comacnche, Kiowa, Witicha, Caddo, and Atakapan are all discussed. to different degrees.
