One of the first estate auctions I attended, 2011, this Stemmed Kirk Serrated comes from a Perry County, Indiana, collector. From conversations with his son I know he (they hunted together) along the Ohio River, they enjoyed beach hunting, mainly. Was the piece found on the Indiana shore or the Kentucky shore--that I'd have no way of knowing. The 2&7/16" by 1&1/4" point is made of a banded form of Hornstone--the look is somewhat like a glossy Dover, but it's Hornstone--slightly over 1/4" max thickness. There is still--even after the Early Archaic period salvaging--a trace of a tip impact fracture. Tip-on photo should show the degree of salvage that was done 7500BP. Overall a WELL made point, extra well patinated. Small note: on one face is a red "1" marked--feint, but there--no idea why, it's just there. Basal edge has the light degree of grinding you'd expect from a Kirk--read that as 'just barely done'. Shipping is $6.00, checks or M.O.s are welcomed, Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
