Heavy, heavy basal edge grinding on this Cornernotched Pinetree--Indiana collection, my area, and a form of Chalcedony that's either Spencer County, Indiana, Holland Flint or a close cousin--Ohio collectors will see the similarities to some Flint Ridge Flint/ Chalcedony. A couple things to note: there were multiple sharpenings of the blade on this point--you don't get to a beveled edge with that not being the case. But, with those repeated sharpenings (it's a knife, after all) the barbs and the basal corners also (almost always) reflect minor nicks...use does that. Another feature to point out is that the tip was a burin--under a 10x loop you see the wear-down of the flake ridges--your hands will feel the wear polish as well--not as heavy as that basal edge grinding, but flint wears, it polishes from repeated use. The finder is deceased, so I can't ask if the point is a Vanderburgh County, Indiana, find, or some area county--you now know what I do--his name will go to the next owner, keep the provenance together. Shipping is $8.00 with checks, cash, or money orders the only three ways I take payment. Sorry, paypal users, I do not use electronic payments--Roy A.
