One of the better colored Kaolin Chert Snyders I've had in-hand, I think. The finder worked (walked) the Ohio River in Massac County, Illinois (from some points he labeled), so that's the 'working assumption' for the source of this Snyders--Paducah, Kentucky, area, so you can geo-locate it, mound groups (now state parks) in many locations---and the Hopewell Peoples seemed to have claim to a number of those Woodland 'cities'. Hey, you have a travel 'artery' that's almost a mile wide, it promotes a lot of village life--and trade. This Kaolin Chert/ Flint Snyders measures 2&1/8" by 1&1/4", yet only 1/4" thickness. If the pictures don't show the 'balance' of the point, that's MY fault--excellent knapping & patina. Note: I'm going to point out one flake that caused me to 'scope' the point--in a basal notch: it shows an extra light color , and I wanted to be 100% certain it was an old flake. Under 30x it looks like a surface flake exfoliated--freeze-thaw will do that if the flake isn't firmly attached. You can see proper mineralization at the edges of the flake-off--water & minerals had been accumulating under that surface flake, and it finally broke free. NOT modern human made. My rock garden is full of points that modern knappers have tried to fake--but this Snyders passes my tests for full authenticity. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are how I welcome payment. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment systems--Roy A.
