The Adena comes from a north central Indiana collection, and the flint, while it looks like a form of Hornstone, I think is s 'cousin flint'--I'll try for a close-up photo to show how many color variations there are in the flint itself--good material, good gloss (high silicate) so it knapped very well, the Robbins Adena artisan could do more pressure flaking than percussion chipping--his 'finished knife' then showed good form and thinness. Length is 2&5/8" by 1&3/8" with a 5/16" thin profile. On both faces you'll see the flat, very large flakes that were first seen (by the Adena knapper) on the starting flake--he was able to get the length to the blade he needed, fashion the square stem Robbins Adenas are noted for. The tip shows use as a scraping function--instead of a sharp point it has a 'scooped' face of a scraper--every detail is ancient, you'll easily see & feel the patina (the flint is well use-polished).
