Form wise, this Edwards County, Illinois, Mid Archaic Axe is great, made right, but the plows, aw, the plows. The damage occurred before the piece was found in 1953. I was just learning to walk when Norm Reid found the three-quarter...long time back. These intervening years the piece was displayed in Norm's "Indian Hill Museum" (his homeplace was called "Indian Hill", thus his private museum's name). Made of granite, 4&1/4" by 3" in 'height', thickness of 2" measured on the heel. The top, as are many three-quarter axes is flat to just very slightly concave--to slip a tightening wedge under the binding sinew used to hold the piece to a wooden handle. Yes, there is modern damage to a 6500 BO Mid Archaic artifact, but there is also a patina you'll never have to question--it's real. Shipping is by Priority Mail, $10.00. I welcome checks or M.O.s, but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
