If there was ever a piece worth sending for restoration, this would be high on my list. Sure, the Early Archaic "Pinetree Culture" salvaged the barb some, but he was interested in a functional hafted knife, not something to display. As so many Pinetrees had one barb (at least) missing you wonder is, on the more heavily used cutting edge, it wasn't a 'help' for the barb to be missing--maybe you could extend a cut slightly if that barb was gone. Always nice to see one that's intact, even if it's only occasionally. This Webster or Union County, Kentucky, Pinetree has spent about a decade in my collection, purchased from the finder--it measures 2&1/2" by almost 1&1/2" (just under)--5/16" max thickness of a Kentucky grade of Hornstone. The parallel flaking is there, the basal edge grinding, the workmanship clearly Pinetree Culture--read that as "It's real, period". Shipping is $8.00, with checks or M.O.s how I welcome payment. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
