The owner stenciled Jersey County, Illinois, for the provenance, not to far from where he lived, but whether he found or purchased the big blade, it's a bit too late to ask him, unfortunately. The blade is thin, my caliper not quite reaching 3/8" max thickness on a small stack at the base--center of the blade is only 1/4" thick--see the on-edge photo, it's one thin, well made Crescent Quarry (higher grade Burlington Chert), glossy white with tan inclusions and mineral 'dots'. The back lighted photo shows it's high quality, thin flint. As far as point classification I term the piece a Red Ocher Culture (Late Archaic Turkey Tail peoples), but the edges are so precisely pressure sharpened yet not really bevel sharpened, I wouldn't be at all surprised if other blade names could be thrown out--decide for yourself what you want to call it, same as I have. Regardless of name, every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping comes with the price, checks or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
