A S.W. Indiana point, this fossil chert (Harrodsburg Fossil Chert) point is Late Archaic in timeframe--crosses (I think) three different point forms: Buck Creeks (with a hint of Beacon Island in that outward-rounded stem), Late Archiac Stemmed/ Barbed, and possibly some Turkey Tail--Harrison form points. The shoulders, being square to the stem, not downward pointed, that's where you know the point isn't fully in the Buck Creek point types, you're seeing the transition from form-to-form, and adding in a slight serration to the blade edges, possibly a tribe's individual signature. If there is dulling to the stem it's minor grinding (at best). sometimes it hard to tell what's 'true grinding' from long wear, some 'play' in the hafting that caused the stem edges to dull. Width is 1&5/16", and a full 7/16" medial ridge thickness--you can bet that blade started out much larger prior to repeated sharpening. A well made, 100% authentic Daviess County, Indiana, point. Shipping is $7.00 (postal minimum anymore). Checks are welcomed, money orders are welcomed, but I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
