A 'no brainer' fossil chert Osceola from Illinois, and a 1907 Indian Head penny that's a "Thanks for buying the point"...the tag came off the arrow, so I'm not sure if it was a Bill Pesch Collection piece--or not--a Coles County, Illinois, find--or Fayette County, one of his main hunting areas, it'd seem. That area, that's the best provenance I can provide. the tip was Early Archaic salvaged into a needle point--a burin, a perforator, VERY sharp--length is slightly under 2&3/8" by 1&5/16". Like some Osceola points, the basal edge shows little basal edge grinding--you can feel strong grinding on the barbs, but not in the basal center. Note the end of one basal lobe has tiny quartz crystals, like it (the flint) was a split-open geode of flint (spall). What I term a 'fossil chert' some might classify as a form of Burlington--people use different terms, with little distinction between the chert forms. Regardless, miner deposits are there, authenticity is guaranteed. Shipping is $6.00, checks or M.O>s are welcomed--cash is also fine, but I do not acceot payment forms like paypal--Roy A.
