Out of a Hancock County, Kentucky, small collection, found on some site along the Ohio River, the Kirk is heavily sharpened, but doesn't show obvious serration--at least the heavy serration the point type can be noted for.The material (flint) is a local flint identified as Yellowbanks, although it also resembles some grades of Muldrough Chert--likely they're similar in their geologic context. Length is nearly 2&1/4" by 1&3/8" with 5/16" max medial ridge thickness. You can feel some basal grinding on the base corners, and there actually is more grinding on the corners of the barbs than the base--noting how cut-in the barbs are, you have to wonder if there'd been attention paid to the barbs due to bindings (sinew) cutting ans shifting, so the barbs were polished to halt that 'shift'. Guaranteed authentic in every detail. Shipping is $5.00, checks, cash, or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
