A decent side-notched Big Sandy from the Paducah, Kentucky, area, a no brainer it's so patinated with age. Length is barely under 2" by 1&1/16", the profile is thin, 5/16" near the tip, much thinner all the way to the base (very thin at the hafting area). There is some, but not at all heavy basal grinding--really well made basal tangs, though. When there isn't as much basal edge grinding I tend to look at the Mid Archaic, a period when side notching came back into 'vogue'--but heavy basal grinding such as the Early Archaic point makers used, did not. When you don't find a point in situ you have to go on what your eyes and hands tell you, so I would type this as a "later" Big Sandy--real in every detail. Shipping is $6.00, checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
