Shipping included on this saw-edged Uniface flake knife--tiny chips made by the VERY early culture hunter. Most collectors assign the Uniface knives to one of the various Paleo cultures as they simply aren't found on Early Archaic of Mid Archaic sites (Late Archaic, as well)--those people used bifacial knives. This creek find is from the Trigg County, Kentucky, area from the info I received, it's made of a Kentucky-type Hornstone, exactly 3" by 1&1/8", semi-curved, and max thickness of 1/4". An edge of cortex is seen on the wider end, right at the shaft scraping indention--or is that a finger tip hold-down? It isn't very use polished, so I'd suspect it was for scraping--a polished indention wouldn't cut into the users' skin, a sharp indention was a tool function...if that makes sense. A close up of the cutting edge shows the small, still sharp serrations the hunter cut-in. Patina is heavy enough to cover several artifacts--read that as REAL, period. I welcome checks, cash, or M.O.s, but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
