The finder lived & hunted where the Missouri & Mississippi Rivers come together--the collection sold at a local auction house there--a LOT of points. This side notch with a straight base, HEAVILY ground, you supply the point type name you think best No types except Early Archaic forms (think Osceola) seem quite right to me, but then again, those hunting grounds are somewhat removed from my Hoosier state, point names like Big Sandy are not used there. The material is a Missouri quartzite, in some ways similar to Wisconsin Hixton Silicified Sandstone--this form, though, it's speckled everywhere, tip-to-base, light translucent to some degree. Length is 2&7/16" by 1&1/8", center of the medial ridge is somewhat over 5/16". Patina is excellent, real, period. Shipping is $6.00 with checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
