76397--Decent 2.5
Banded hornstone, 2&1/2" by 1&1/4", and 3/8" max thickness. The piece is out of Warrick County, Indiana. The piece has been in my collection for several decades--four decades as of next year, from the first small collection I ever bought. The stem (see the close up photo) has an interesting fracturing technique to each side of the stem--the reason I kept the piece--understanding WHY they did it this way, that gave the authentic piece a 'character'. Photos should also show there was a slight impact fracture to the one side of the tip--almost as though the Late Archaic user had tried to pry something (mussel shell?) open; it fractured the edge right at the tip.
