Jersey County, Illinois, creek-found, as if that great patina doesn't scream 'creek find' without my mentioning it. Length is 4&3/8" by 1&3/8". The piece was made to be a hafted knife, so if the symmetry is "a little crooked", understand, it wasn't meant to be thrown on a spear, it was a cutting, meal prep tool. The The area of the find, confluence of the Illinois and the Mississippi rivers, is an area of limestone cliffs--I think this is a local flint in the area, in the Bailey Chert family--check out "Illinois Lithic Materials", you may get a better identification, but color & consistency seems right for Bailey Chert. Big knife, guaranteed authentic. Shipping is free, checks or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
