Ancient bit chips, they show the piece was used (repeatedly), not a "trophy axe'--but the work the Early Archaic maker put into forming and polishing this Full Groove piece is impressive. Held in-hand, the axe simply forms a connection with you... if that makes sense. That's what artifacts should do. The piece is off a deep creek system in southeast Illinois, Edwards or Wabash County. An interesting choice of material, a sedimentary stone, but very, very hard--read that as heavy for its size;3&5/8" by 2&9/16", thickest on the heel at 1&3/4". NO PLOW SCRATCHES--nice to say that once in a while, too many field-found axes and Celts are so scarred. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic, period. Shipping is $11 Priority Mail, and checks are welcomed, however I do not use paypal--Roy A.
