Sorting through a box of "put aways" I remembered purchasing a frame of flint from a local estate a few years back--at the time there was enough flint (read that as authentic stuff) to keep me busy writing item descriptions, so not much attention went towards this very thick Turkey Tail. Just this week, I had occasion to give the piece of flint some attention...what a lousy job by the modern knapper--makes me glad I missed out on a number of his frames of flint (super high price bids). What's odd is that in his youth the guy had found two buckets of broken Turkey Tails--he had a couple hundred bases, the same number of tips, to study, try to replicate. If you plan to make a look-alike, how the heck to you mess up that bad??? Enjoy the one frame of REAL T.T. bases, and this awkwardly-made fake. Have a good Easter, everyone ! Roy A.
