Shipping is $6.00 on this Decatur, Illinois, area Adena--I'd 'usually' say "Snap Base", but the piece is definitely made with the bottom edge of the starting flint flake forming the bottom of the stem--the piece wasn't broken, it was worked to get every bit of length (for the cutting edge) out of that flint flake/ preform. When the Adena knapper got to the stem he ran short of flint; stem and basal edge are both well ground--you feel the polish all the way around the stem. Good grade of Burlington/ Crescent Quarry flint, yellow in color that could indicate heat tempering of the flint--good knapping and edge formation, pressure chipping on those edges, 2&11/16" by 1&1/8", and barely over 1/4" max thickness-that thickness tells you the knapper worked with a fairly thin preform...and he knew what he was doing; good skill. Lifetime guaranteed authentic in every detail. Checks, cash, or M.O.s are welcomed, but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
