A creek find from Webster County, Kentucky, creek stained and mineralized--minor Kirk Culture repair on a basal tang, note in the close up photo how much polish shows on that basal tang. That kind of polish is deliberate (salvage work), it's not accidental. Part of that salvage was the removal of the barb (shoulder) to securely wrap sinew, re-haft the serrated knife. Again, you run a fingertip over where the corner barb had been and you feel polish. That's deliberate work. The piece was part of a Dixon, Kentucky, area creek hunters collection, made from hornstone2&3/16" by 1&1/16", with 1/4" max thickness--thin. The serrated edges are still somewhat sharp. Now, how they first knapped--and then repeatedly sharpened the blade with that 'center of nodule' quartz inclusion, that took some real skill. To get more cutting edge the 7500BP knapper even made a serration out of the quartz inclusion--a 'tooth'--run a finger over that sawtooth, you'll understand--do it lightly or you'll open up a finger. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed real. Shipping is $6.00, and checks or M.O.s are welcomed, day-after-receipt shipping. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy a.
