The shipping cost coms with the list price on this Attica (Indiana Green) chert knife from the Edwards--Wabash County, Illinois, area--4&3/16" by 1&3/16". The medial ridge reaches a full 1/2" so it's not a 'stretch of the imagination' that the piece was considerably wider as it was first made. The cutting edge sharpening (mainly on one blade edge), will surprise you-- some decent pressure chipping. The opposite blade side shows more percussion chipping, larger and 'coarser' flake scars. A feature you don't notice until the piece is in-hand--the rounded tip is heavily work polished. A close up photo should show the gloss on those tip flakes. For the blade style I go back to "Cobbs Knife", and Early Archaic Culture--later cultures, you don't find knives of this style. It wasn't labeled as a creek find in the estate auction, but that's what the patina reminds me of--lifetime guaranteed real. I welcome checks or M.O.s however I do not use paypal--Roy A.
