One weathered, mineralized Burlington Chert Spade from the Decatur, Illinois, area4&1/4" by 2&3/8"--3/4" max thickness. Considerable use polish shows on the bit, the shine from chopping weeds in sandy soil, over-and-over. The piece was hafted, shows a 'hafting notch' on one blade edge--as low toward the bit as that tie-on spot is, there couldn't have been much of the bit exposed (to dig with)--seeing the piece as it was used would have been interesting, I expected they would have tried for as much exposed flint as possible, so now I'm wondering is a finer tool like this was for working right around the plants them selves--that is, it wasn't for breaking up the soil pre-planting. A decent piece of Burlington, 100% real. Shipping is $6.00, checks or M.O>s are welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
