Found along the Ohio River on a Kentucky site that was one strong Mid Archaic occupation (I've hunted there once, many years past)--Bentons and the associated points those 6500BP peoples made. This wide stemmed point is made of Hornstone, the center of the nodule forms the stem and part of the (now) shortened blade. Length is 1&15/16", width is slightly over 1&1/2"--the 3/8" thickness is what tells you this is about one-third the original size--once, the piece was a huge hafted knife. The flaking of the blade is some excellent work, give the knapper credit--the higher grade flint at the tip was easy (for a skilled artisan), but that 'quartzy' stem, that had to be some tough material to chip. Patina is great, authenticity is no brainer real. Shipping is $6.00 with checks, cash, or M.O.s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
