The pictures show the fine workmanship, the strong patina, but to fill in the numbers: length is 4&3/4", bit width is slightly under 1&1/2", and thickness max is very slightly under 1" where the highly polished bit becomes the 'body' of the celt. The piece is from a small Macon County, Illinois, collection, found near the Sangamon River--the family said the finder picked up his artifacts in his garden--at only ten pieces total, my guess is that he didn't search for artifacts, what he had were a few 'homeplace finds". As best I can identify the material it's Diorite, but I do not claim to be a geologist (J.R., who IS will correct me if I'm wrong). Unless it's from very minor contact with other pieces in the box where the Celt was stored, there is no damage (I see one extremely small ding on the end of the bit. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $7.00, and payment welcomed by check or money order. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
