The chipping/ knapping is excellent workmanship--Early Archiac parallel flaking on this Staunton,(far west) Illinois Cobbs Knife. Length is slightly over 33&13/16" by 1&7/16"--a center thickness that's so close to 1/2" (a very slight stack in the Burlington Chert). The flint chipping on the base is as good as any Cobbs I can recall, just great workmanship. Down from the tip is an indention that could be considered damage (ancient), or a shaft scraping indention--if there is use polish there it's minimal, so the Early archaic hunter may have simply smoothed-out a blade nick. There is one single chip on the tip that's modern damage--if you want to contrast patina that's a good spot to study; one single flake knocked off with yellowed surface patina on both sides of the chip--it's white, it's a modern made chip--it also keeps the price down a bit. Every detail is guaranteed authentic, exactly as described. Shipping is $6.00 with checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
