A Lexington, Kentucky, area point, the 'sort of red' chert stemmed Heavy Duty point is 2&3/8", a heat treated Boyles Chert--length is slightly over 2&5/16", with some limestone inclusions. The base is thinned in the characteristic "small flute" on both faces, typical of the Heavy Duty type. The piece has been in my collection for some fifteen years, and it wasn't until I started collecting (and studying) Heavy Duty types that I even identified it--live and learn. The stem shows some (small) degree of stem edge grinding. Yes, there are a few nicks, ancient chips on a barb and a long-patinated basal corner ding--they're there, they're part of the ancient use of the piece. The tip chip, on the other hand, it may be farming-made damage--I don't see mineralization where it would indicate ancient use--you know the exact condition if you buy it--you also have a lifetime guarantee the piece is real. One note--there is a streak of glue on one face, easy to see how the point was once displayed--also easily removed if you so choose. There is NO additional cost to ship the piece, and checks or M.O.s are the welcomed payment forms. Sorry, I do not use paypal on my store--Roy a.
