76573--Kentucky Buck Creek--no brainer
You pick up a piece of flint (artifact), you don't have to question it, sometimes it's more worth collecting. No one wants to eat fakes, me included. This hornstone Buck Creek came from a Knox County, Kentucky, collection--just nice flint, sharpened so many times you have to guess at how long, how wide it was originally. The maker/ user (if the village knapper didn't make it for him) sharpened again-and-again--present size is 2&7/16" by 1&1/2". Note how much closer the one barb is to the stem than the less sharpened blade side--you can follow the thinking of the (likely) Woodland Period user; he made his tool last as long as possible.
