From the estate of a life long Indiana farmer were three boxes of his "Interesting finds"...stuff not quite what he wanted in his frames, but still pretty darn nice (by most peoples' standards). This small Cornernotch, 1&7/16" by 1&5/16" caught my interest--the nicked tip aside, it's so well made, and obviously shows NO sharpening of the blade after it was first made--a "Stage one"--we (at least I don't) don't see many stage one artifacts, they simply weren't often lost, flint was too valuable. This Pinetree, it somehow got a tip ding and was then used as a polishing tool. In the tip 'indention' there has very heavy use-polish, as much work polish as the heavily ground basal edge--that took some time--and effort. We often see sside scrapers cut into a work edge, but in this case it was the tip that served that function. The chert is a river cobble chert--not a high silicate flint, but it shows inclusions of better grade flint interspersed with 'cherty' areas--it served its purpose, and is guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $7.00 (postal minimum for first class small boxes anymore), checks, cash, or M.O>s welcomed. I do not use paypal-type payment services, though--Roy A.
