One of my favorite creek finds EVER, this Hardin dates from back somewhere around 2010 or 2012--Webster County, Kentucky, area, super patinated Hornstone, weathered by the creek-carried minerals (and sunlight) to a bronze color. Length is 2&11/16" by 1&1/2". Looking at the flat face it's not hard to figure out the Early Archaic flint knapper began with a large flat-sided flake, not a bifacial blade--the reverse has chipping from barb to tip and down the opposite blade edge--the center of the blade, even the stem they're smooth--or show the 'ripple' of the flint as it was shattered from a large Hornstone chunk. The front face is medial ridged, and the only flat plane is on the stem--see the close-ups if that's hard to follow. Every detail is guaranteed authentic, period.
