Nice Cobbs Knife--or as we called a square base knife decades back--a Stanfield Knife. Early Archaic, very well made blade on this 4" by 1&13/16", 3/8" thick blade. The one blade side shows either a repair spot or a shaft scraper--you CAN feel use polish, so the indentation had a useful function. The flint is a heat treated fossil chert, one side more darkened from the heat treating than the other face- I still switch between identifying the material as Bowling Green Chert and Bailey Chert--sometimes you 'think you know', but even "the chert expert", Tony DeRegnaucourt once told me: " You have to know where the piece was found" (to identify similar types)--what is clear is the patina--authentic, and guaranteed authentic as long as I'm alive. If you can beat that guarantee, go for it. Shipping on the Lawrence County, Illinois, based knife is $8.00. I welcome checks or M.O.s but do not use paypal-type payment systems--Roy A.
