I don't like 'knocking' something I'm trying to sell, seems kind of self-defeating, but what the heck is this chert??? Patina is there, form (Pinetree) is there, flaking patterns are Pinetree (base is ground), but the chert is some hard (but lower grade) of chert I've not seen in almost 54 years of collecting. To start off: length is 1&3/4" by 1", some 5/16" max thickness. I know the piece isn't a 'cast of a point' as there's a bell-ring when tapped against a piece of higher grade flint--a cast, being epoxy, would give a dull "thump-thump" sound. That ringing sound, too, tells you the chert was a LOT harder than it looks. Note there's some glue residue on one face from the number tag of the last collector, Lawrence County, Illinois--without a catalog to reference, who knows what site that might correspond to. The piece is real, and interesting enough to add to your collection, your experience with different materials. Shipping is $8.00 (wish I knew a way to send things for lesser cost than USPS, but haven't found it yet)--I welcome checks, cash, money orders, or driveway rock for my lane. Sorry, paypal is not on that list--Roy A.
