A western Illinois Dalton variety (Hemphill is my closest guesstimate) made from a patinated Burlington Chert--or Crescent quarry chert, 2&3/4" by 1&1/16", a decent, thin profile at only 5/16" thickness near the hafting area. The Dalton Culture knapper worked with a dish-in along one blade edge, the feel of use polish would indicate it was a shaft scraper. There is slight wear on the tip (use), and 'acceptable' stem edge grinding. The field dirt is still in place--you can see exactly what the Sangamon County, IL, finder saw (and left)--if you decide to wash the piece, that's up to you--for my collection, that extra bit of patina is just fine. Guaranteed real, period. Shipping is $7.00, checks or M.O>s are both welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payments--Roy A.
