Out of a farm estate in Clark County, Illinois, made from Indiana Harrison County-type Hornstone, not quite to 2&1/8" by 1&3/8"--thickness is very slightly over 1/4" as the basal hafting area, thins as you go up the blade. The base if the Decatur is the "Fractured Base" type with the edge showing a very thin flake removed from each corner--the flakes meet in the center with the 'fingernail catch point. The base was then heavily ground. Both wings are intact, and show another Decatur knapping trick: they're cut-away instead of down-pointed--a "Clipped wing". There was a slightly more pointed tip originally, but there is a small (and Early Archaic made) salvage to the tip. The close up photo should show how the tip was angled. It's difficult to describe, but this is NOT a break, the 7500BP hunter/ knapper was working with the bevel on each blade side, and also working with a very thin blade to begin with. So he didn't need to narrow the entire blade, this was his 'trick'--it left a point to the end, just not a very sharp point. Every detail of the piece is lifetime guaranteed authentic, period. Shipping is $6.00, and I welcome checks, cash, or M.O.s. Please note my store does not use paypal--Roy A.
