Shipped by Priority Mail, $10.00 shipping on this Wabash County, Illinois, granite AXe--Early archaic Full Groove, heavy for its 4&5/16" by 3&3/16" by 2&1/16" thick size. The bit is intact (one small modern-made chip), but either it never has a sharp edge or the Early Archaic user worked this stone day-after-day--it's use-dulled. Note the shape of the Axe tells me it was later in the E.Archaic, the top, while not flat, is taking on the shape of the Mid Archaic Axes--the groove doesn't stop there, but it's very shallow on the top--the style was in transition to the three-quarter groove axes. There is very little that indicates farm equipment rolled the stone, one small scrape that's in the handle 'slot', and even that looks ancient. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic, period. I welcome checks or M.O.s however I do not use paypal--Roy A.
