A Spencer or Perry County, Indiana, Adena--close to a Turkey Tail base, but the distinction is so close I'll go with "Adena",caliper reads it as just under 2& 1/16" by 1&1/16"--note the tip, a trace of the old impact fracture that resulted in the Woodland Cult. point being sharpened (and shortened)--whatever the hunter hit, he did it first class (with force), he broke the tip on a better than 5/16" thick blade--it too some force. The repair job, ancient, was well done, but when you examine ANY ancient artifact you ask yourself questions about how they used (and touched-up) damage. How long was the piece to start with--probably 3&1/2"-- this type of flint (Indiana Holland Chalcedony) has so many fracture planes in a big 'chunk' that getting long, thin blades is not common. The red color tells you one other thing-- the point/ knife was near a fire at one time, heat changed the color, iron oxides suddenly stood-out. A good piece, REAL in every detail. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O>s (or cash), but please note I do not use paypal if you're buying--Roy A.
