Back in my youth (as a new collector) in the early 1970s, goofy flint items like this flint fish hook (plus flint buffalos & flint thunderbirds) were flooding the market...not sure why, but the "Oh, now wait a minute" pieces like this have become 'collector's items'. I've seen collectors build whole cases of them, each person collects for their own reasons. Hey, some people collect "Grey Ghosts", those 1950s Edwards Plateau, Texas, flint blades made into giant fake 'spears'.
