Out of the S.W. Illinois area, Carbondale region--the point is an expanded base in the same timeperiod as the Hopewell Steuben Points--note that the chipping, while well done, is Woodland percussion chipping, not pressure chipping. As was fairly common on Steubens the stem edges are dulled--they were one of the few Hopewell point forms to use some stem grinding. The stem, in a way, will remind you of Hardin Points. Length is 2&1/4" by 1&1/2". That strong medial ridge, 3/8" thick makes me thing this was once at least twice the as-found length. The flint shows excellent patina--also shows some 'handling dings', small chips on the edges where you can contrast the patina. Those tiny chips show extra white, so the flint may be a form of Burlington, but with NICE gloss, just a great in-hand feel, and 100% authentic. Shipping is $6.00 with checks (or cash) or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
