One fine, fine Waubesa,, and judging from all the sandy soil in the crevices of the flint itself, a riverbank find--slightly past 3&1/4" by nearly 1&9/16", but only 5/16" max thickness. The piece came from an Illinois estate--actually the only piece of flint the family had to sell. While I can provide the N.W. Illinois county, that doesn't provide any great provenance--the flint doesn't have the patina of Illinois Hornstone (Cobden, which patinates a brown color, shows multiple bandings in the flint)), but more resembles either an Indiana or Kentucky hornstone. Families move, their possessions travel with them, and that's why I think this Waubesa came from somewhere considerably east--or southeast--of its last home. Note there is slight tip wear, closeup photo should show it, and there is one very small spot of glue on one face--maybe that small glue-spot kept the piece from sliding in a shadowbox--easily removed, though. Every detail is lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $7.00, checks or M.O.s are how I take payment. Sorry, that means paypal-type payment services are not used--Roy A.
