Neat small black and white granite Axe, Early Archaic Culture, 7500BP, comes from a family collection gathered in Gibson County, Indiana, 2&1/2" by 1&3/4", and only 1" thick. Some artifacts you take your best guess as to their purpose--I think this was a used-and-exhausted axe that was smoothed some and given to a child to play with--you had to learn some way, right? The parent made sure there were no rough edges, but the bit was still functionally intact (enough) so the child could whack on trees or siblings (hopefully not, but kids are kids, even 7500 years ago). Now, these type axes are called "Pocket Axes" as they easily fit to carry around, study & appreciate. Authentic piece, period. Shipping is $7.00, checks, cash, or M.O>s are welcomed--Roy A.
