A few years back, an estate auction in Callaway County, Missouri, both tip and base were glued onto a piece of plywood--not together, but if you see one piece it's so clearly the same flint as the other, they had to go together--fresh (modern) break, so the big Cornernotch was found intact--there is no field dirt in the break, so you'd have to guess the piece was either dropped or something heavy placed on top of it, it snapped in two. Total length is 4&5/8" by 1&11/16", and 7/16" max thickness on the blade--substantial piece of flint, it must have taken some effort to break--easily restored if you choose. The flint--Mozarkite, the state rock of Missouri, I read. The pieces will easily glue together, but if you're planning on having the big hafted knife restored I think a professional would prefer to do that work themselves.
