A Henderson County, Kentucky, artifact--found decades back on a very Late Mississippian village site. These were the descendants of Mid-Mississippians who had left Indiana's Angel Mounds, survived along the Ohio River, farming the lowlands long enough to have contact with (most likely) French traders. The French brought along copper (or brass) cookware to trade with 'locals', but to the locals the shiny (new) pots and pans were quickly chopped up, rolled into beads for stringing on necklaces and the wider pieces made into armbands--they were a 'status symbol'--give the copper 350 years +/-, the metal verdigris a deep green. Forty years back I winter-hunted the site where these beads were (if not common) at least possible to find. The copper was so localized the site became known as "Copper Corner"--so that's exactly where I suspect Bob (the finder) picked up this piece. Stated VERY simply: it is real. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O>s are the ways I take payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
