At 3&13/16", this is one big Waubesa Adena hafted knife--width is 1&1/2", but the center-of-blade thickness is only 5/16". There are enough inclusions (fossil) in the chert that I'll use the chert classification "A form of Burlington Chert"--probably somewhere in the literature there's a sub-group name for the chert type...but not easily found. Other pieces in the collection were ex Bill Pesch Collection, Mattoon, Illinois, so I'm going with "Bill's Collection" as the source of this big Waubesa--a couple years after the estate auction, pieces have gotten traded around quite a bit. It happens. Built in a lower blade corner is a WELL polished shaft scraper--maybe it started as a ding, but quickly got used for scraping wood handles and bone awls. You can easily feel the work polish. The "V" stem shows edge grinding--not super heavy, but definitely edge-ground. Neat piece, 100% guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $8.00 with checks or M.O.s the ways to pay for the purchase. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
