Easy to see the heat treating of the Snyders point in the center of the group--the iron oxides change the 'normally' off-white of the Burlington Chert a 'ruddy' color--you may have a different name for that coloration, but it's instantly recognizable as heat treating. The Snyders shows salvage attempt-after salvage, the Hopewell user found ways (and invented some I'd be hard-pressed to guess)--it worked for their needs--2&5/16" by 2", but still thin, 3/8" max thickness. The stemmed "Steuben" Woodland Culture point is 2&3/4" in length, a black, crunchy mineral build-up on the reverse face--the Adena Dixon is 2&9/16", it's stem edge ground, more heavily sharpened on one blade edge than the opposite side. The Lawrence County, Illinois, finder had some catalog numbers inked-on, but didn't pass along what those numbers indicted--the sites where the pieces were found are likely under a house or highway) now, anyway--a quick aside, one of my favorite sites (a long, low ridge) was used for fill for an interstate overpass. It happens. Three authentic points, real in every detail. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment systems--Roy A.
