Out of the W.C. Illinois, area, Madison County area--the thin Clovis is made of a fossil chert, all sorts of white fossils in the matrix. Length is much reduced from the 'stage one' length, only 1&3/4" by 13/16", the thickness only 1/4" max thickness. There was considerable basal thinning and heavy, heavy grinding--that grinding extends up the lateral edges a full inch---that should indicate the length was at least twice the present 1.75". Due to the thin nature of the piece there was little attempt to flute either face, hence the basal thinning flakes removed. One auricle is anciently lost--Paleo damage, and was ground smooth by the Paleo hunter. The tip is also ancient damage, wear, rub polish, shows--what I thought was a new chip in the tip turned out to be a tiny quartz inclusion--it gives a 'sparkle' like a new chip, but 10x loop exam will show you it's entirely ancient wear. What IS new is the red glue and bits of red foam rubber from how the piece was displayed--assuming they're from a waterbased glue they should all soak free (I haven't tried).
