Visually, Porphyry is eye-catching, sometimes large, sometimes small 'speckled' quartz inclusions in the stone. This Sangamon County, Illinois, Celt is one that does catch your attention either by itself or in a display. Length is nearly 4&1/4" by 1&3/4", and 1&9/16" max thickness due to each face having a sort of 'humped' shape. It's a couple thousand years since the Woodland era fashioner made the piece, but the shape makes you wonder what they were designing for--HAD to be a reason for the humped shape--and for the fact that the bit doesn't have a crisp edge (it's almost blunted)--again, you made tools, even stone ones for specific tasks...even if WE don't quite understand what those were. The Celt is 100% guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $10.00, and I welcome payments by check or M.O> Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payments--Roy A.
